Get your lighting wrong and everyone will know you’re an amateur. However, with good to great lighting you can shoot your indie films with cheaper/less expensive camera gear because most cameras, if not all, provide a decent image if given enough light. I’ve got a small JVC DV camera that is old and light. The image is o.k., but when given the proper amount of light, it looks much more professional. Given this information, you should do as much work to learn about lighting as possible so that even the most light budget for shooting your film will be a successful one.
