Get the Apple look & Josh is a Fairy – Film Riot
Ryan shows us a super cheap white background technique with cheap stands as well.
A great tip for blowing out the white background: Set your zebra on your camera and adjust your lights so that you get zebras all over your back ground to ensure that it is all smooth. Then, just light your subject as usual and bam…easily blown out background. Toodles!

$10 DIY Camera Slider – Film Riot
Cool slider, but I do agree with Ryan about not using DIY rigs on paid shoots. If you want to make a client feel like you can’t deliver, break something out with spray paint on it…they’ll be wondering why they hired you in a New York minute. For your own projects, these are an inexpensive way to get that ever important motion shot.

This video from Videomaker magazine is a great reference for newbies who need an idea how to get started working with actors and the casting process. It’s also a great refresher for filmmakers who need to knock the rust off. Videomaker produces really dry reference materials, but are essential techniques if you don’t fall asleep while watching them.

$10 DIY Light Stand – Film Riot
Hey folks! I really have to say that I love this DIY project and will probably build it myself. I was actually looking for light stands recently and can’t believe how expensive they are. I may make a few mods to this, but overall I think this could well be used on any small set. I.E.: talking head shots, interviews and the like. Toodles!
