An Inconsistent Truth – Press Release – Top Grossing Movie Per Screen

Film industry confounded, ‘An Inconsistent Truth’ top-grossing movie per screen for second week

an inconsistent truth

Nashville, TN (February 6, 2012) – For the second straight week Phil Valentine’s global warming documentary, An Inconsistent Truth, is the top-grossing movie per screen in the country.

Hollywood was buzzing about the film W.E., a romantic drama directed by Madonna that focuses on the affair between King Edward VIII and American divorcée Wallis Simpson. Its limited release on 4 screens was supposed to be a slam dunk in per screen gross and garner wider distribution. An Inconsistent Truth played spoiler by besting the W.E. debut in An Inconsistent Truth’s second week out.

IndieWire, a film industry website, said An Inconsistent Truth “inexplicably continued to do solid business in its second weekend.” Hollywood seems to be confounded that an independent film that tells the other side of the global warming issue continues to pack theaters.

Of the large crowds that continue to turn out for the film The Nashville Scene observed, “the room was filled with the most vivacious and interactive movie-watching crowd I’ve experienced.” The movie is getting rave reviews on sites like Fandango.com and IMDb.com.

“It’s amusing to watch the consternation of those who don’t want this message out there,” Valentine said of the Hollywood head-scratching. “I believe this is one of the only movies, if not the only movie, that tells the other side that’s actually made it to theaters. The truth is loose and they don’t quite know what to make of it.”

‘Truth’ rolls out to more theaters this week in Nashville and opens at the Malco Cordova Theaters in the Memphis market on Friday February 17 before moving on to wider distribution. Valentine will be on hand for the Memphis premiere as will the film’s centerpiece, Bennie the BioBenz, a restored 1985 Mercedes-Benz that Valentine runs on biodiesel.

Ron Rodgers, president of Rocky Mountain Pictures, the film’s distributor, said “We are excited to be a part of Phil’s journey and to help him bring his movie and message to new markets around the country.”

Indie Sessions: Great way to transfer your video files and more!

I’ve been using Dropbox for a while now and I’ve come to enjoy the ease of use. Now depending on the type of connection you have you may experience different results, but I’ve been really happy with it for most things. Obviously the larger the file you transfer, the longer it will take, but the type of interface Dropbox uses is much easier to use. You can sign up for an account FREE and if you need more space you can upgrade for very little.

Always have your stuff when you need it with @Dropbox. 2GB account is FREE! http://db.tt/FGZyO2V

This is an Indie Sessions recommended product*

Submit your film to Indie Sessions! = Get your film viewed on local broadcast stations!

Hey folks, Jason here. I just wanted to post the news about the website. I am currently negotiating with local broadcast affiliates throughout the mid south to distribute independent films. Turns out there are a multitude of independent and co-op and otherwise not so budget heavy broadcast outlets out there that are dying for content for their channels. So here’s the deal. As a service of Indie Sessions, I plan on putting together a show that features independent films and distributing it to smaller broadcasters all over.  That means that you can have a brand new audience for your films. Now for some of you that are into the film festival circuit, you are unable to get in with a film that has already been distributed. BUT, I’m sure you have older films or films that you will not put on the indie film circuit that you could submit.

So, that said, send me your films. Digital shorts, animations, stop motion and anything else you find entertaining and let’s get you some viewers! After all, what good is your film if no one sees it? You can send me files via info@indiesessions.com or to my physical address or we can do some “FTPing”. Send me an email and I’ll tell you where to send it. The more the merrier so tell your film making friends and lets have some fun. By the way, there’s a chance when doing the show that we’ll be interviewing film makers and their talent. Did I forget to mention that?

Look for Indie Sessions on a broadcaster in your area soon.
